Muthu Raman is an Economist at Econ One Research India Private Limited. He has more than 10 years of experience as a consulting economist, focusing on data management and research, in the areas of antitrust litigation, financial economics and impact assessment. He specializes in using quantitative analysis to evaluate economic impact, study markets and industries, solve business problems, and provide economic advice on policy and legal matters.
Prior to joining Econ One in January 2022, Mr. Muthu Raman served as Managing Economist at Nathan Economic Consulting India Private Limited. His experience in competition economics primarily includes assessment of merger and acquisition, cartel, abuse of dominance and arbitration cases. He has handled large datasets across industries such as cement, paper, alcoholic beverages, airports, auto-ancillaries, healthcare, natural gas, apparel, tyres, man-made fibres, minerals, aviation, etc.
He has also provided analysis for competition assessment reports submitted to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in reference to high profile mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including the first Form 2 M&A submission ever filed in India. Across competition assessment of M&A, he has experience in aviation, airport, alcoholic beverages, cement, hospitals, ports, gas and retail sectors in India. Mr. Raman has also worked in an international arbitration matter pertaining to Indian financial services sector.
Mr. Muthu Raman has vast experience in economic impact assessment and socio-economic studies. His work includes developing research methodologies, survey questionnaires, sample selection, on-field survey canvassing, organizing surveys, analyzing collated data and drafting reports.
