Kiran Pande v. Chevron Corporation, et al.

The plaintiff effectively had been removed from her position as a petroleum research engineer with Chevron. She alleged that she wrongfully was removed based on a combination of race and sex discrimination.

Econ One was retained by counsel for the plaintiff to provide an analysis of the economic loss suffered by the plaintiff. Charles Mahla estimated the plaintiff’s economic loss, adjusted for an estimate of the future earnings that the plaintiff likely would have received through her start-up petroleum engineering consultancy. After a trial in which Dr. Mahla testified, the jury awarded damages to the plaintiff consistent with Dr. Mahla’s analysis.
