Mayer v. CSC Consulting, Inc.

The plaintiff was terminated by the defendant, a large technology consulting firm. She alleged that members of the firm were guilty of sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

Econ One was retained by counsel for the plaintiff to provide an estimate of the plaintiff’s losses. Charles Mahla’s analysis involved an estimation of the plaintiff’s “but-for” earnings as an entrepreneur, as she owned her own consultancy prior to being recruited by the defendant. Despite the allegation by the defendant that the plaintiff’s losses were small based on a claim that her but-for income essentially was non-existent, the jury awarded damages to the plaintiff that were consistent with the estimation that Dr. Mahla provided in his testimony at trial.
