Smith, et al. vs. Texaco, et al.

Dwight Steward worked on behalf of defendants in a class action employment discrimination suit involving allegations of racial discrimination against African-American employees. Dr. Steward developed statistical models to analyze alleged discrimination in pay, job performance and promotions of African-American employees of Texaco. The analysis revealed that there was no statistically significant difference between the pay earned by African-American employees and similarly situated white employees at the company. Moreover, African-American employees actually earned job promotions faster and at a statistically higher rate, than similarly situated white employees.
