Synopsys, Inc. v. Nassda Corp.

The plaintiff accused the defendant of misappropriating trade secrets and infringing two patents in connection with Nassdaā€™s sales of electronic design automation (ā€œEDAā€) software used to design and test semiconductor chips.Ā  Nassda countersued, alleging antitrust violations by Synopsys.

Econ One was retained by counsel for Synopsys initially to analyze Synopsys’ damages and, subsequently, to analyze Nassda’s antitrust claims. Dr. Leitzinger submitted two expert reports analyzing Synopsysā€™ damages and a third expert report responding to Nassdaā€™s antitrust counterclaims.Ā  He also provided deposition testimony.Ā  Nassdaā€™s antitrust counterclaims were dismissed on summary judgment.Ā  Synopsysā€™ damage claims were resolved prior to trial when Synopsys agreed to acquire Nassda.
