Roy v. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

In this civil rights class action lawsuit, plaintiffs were former inmates alleging that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had a widespread practice of over-detaining people due to immigration issues.

Econ One was retained by the plaintiffs to analyze data from the LA County Sheriff’s Department and from Immigration Customs Enforcement. This analysis was used to identify individuals meeting criteria for class membership. Dr. Brian Kriegler submitted several declarations in connection with plaintiffs’ motions for class certification and for summary judgment.

The trial for this class action is scheduled to begin later in 2018 or early 2019.
